Started as a Speakeasy, Reborn as a Pub
The Monarchs’ Corner Bar, revived by owner Frank Lehnen, pays homage the building’s rich history at the corner of Stocking and Fourth street, spanning over 115 years. Monarchs’ current site was once home to a pharmacy that housed a prohibition era speakeasy of the same name. In 2006, “The Monarchs’ Club” was coined as the new bar’s namesake as an homage to the roots it is built on.
Step back in time and view many of the original architectural elements within its new design. The unique interior makes Monarchs’ just one of the many historically significant bars that enrich Grand Rapid’s West Side.
